Hope everyone has had a great fall so far!
Here's some information about things that have happened and what's coming up.
What has happened this fall?
Club Championship: Congratulations to Kaja Bergwitz-Larsen and Martin Dons as winners of this year's club championship! Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the event.
Autumn gathering: We had a nice fall gathering for Oslofjord Triathlon 2024 on October 12. Around 40 people attended, and we had a great day of swimming, running, sauna, and good food and drink in the evening. Congratulations to Eigil with the Honorary Award, Pernille as this year's Råskinn, and Katrin as this year's enthusiast. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
Trainings
Swimming - pool
We have swimming times at Økern and all information about these can be found in Spond.
We hope that we will be able to get two sessions a week where we have a coach on the edge. As you will see, on most sessions, we will share the pool with other clubs. When we share with OI, be aware that they have their own coach and then we do not interfere in their lanes. When we share with Sk Rye, we run common lanes.
Read up on pool rules (available at Facebook pages our and in spond) before attendance if you have not familiarized yourself with these and pay special attention to the attendance time. Due to the large number of swimmers and full lanes, we will also publish programs in advance so that you swim the same program to get more flow in the lanes as this is necessary when we are many. The program for the session will be posted in the spond. Remember to cancel well in advance (no later than the day before) if you find that it does not fit. Many of us want to swim and there are often waiting lists. There is room for everyone if we keep this in mind.
Lifesaving courses
It's great to hear that so many people have participated in the lifesaving courses! It's really important to have lifeguards present during swimming lessons to ensure everyone's safety. With 45 active lifeguards in the club, it's impressive to see how many people contribute to this important work.
In order to ensure that we always have lifeguards on hand, it is important that everyone who has taken a course, either through the club or elsewhere, notifies us so that we can keep the overview up to date. If you are an active swimmer and want to help us continue to have good swimming times, we encourage you to sign up for the lifesaving courses or refresher courses in Spond. Thank you for contributing to the safety of the club!
Running
We train running sessions inside Bislett on Mondays at 16.15, and some Fridays at 17.00. Keep an eye on our Facebook pages for events and times.
Cycling.
We have had two spinning sessions at Myrens with 10-15 people attending for 17 places. It has been good training and atmosphere, but we should fill up these hours when we first run them. Feel free to provide feedback on timing or other
input.
Clubwear and discount agreements
We have an agreement with Trimtex for the purchase of clubwear. Information about logging in to the online store and the next purchase window can be found on Facebook. We also sell water bottles, buoys and swimming caps. Please contact us if you
want to buy something, so we can bring it to training sessions.
Information about discount agreements can be found on our Facebook pages.
The board's work
The board is now working towards the annual meeting in 2025 to renew the legal norm and organizational plan. An assessment of the membership model was attached to the previous newsletter.
The annual meeting is planned for March 2025. Date and location will be announced later. We always need new board members, so please get in touch if you are interested.
Christmas Cybers
We also have plans to create a Christmas cyber. We have run a few different versions, so we would like to hear back from you if you have suggestions or wishes here.
Clean Athlete
For new and old O3ers, we remind you of the Clean Athlete course, which provides information about regulations, the doping list, doping control, dietary supplements and
health consequences.
Communication and privacy
Keep an eye out for information in the Facebook group and in Spond. You can also follow us on strava and tag us on instagram. If anyone wants to take the initiative for such trainings, create an event in the group or contact the board.
