Dear members

Hope everyone has a great Advent season! Here's some information about what's happening over the winter and what you can look forward to a little further ahead.

Christmas Cybers
Finally time for a new Christmas cycle and this year with a new twist. It runs in the period: December 16 - January 5.

Challenges:

  • Swimming: Swim 1 hour per week
  • Cycling: Cycle 3 hours per week
  • Running: Running 2.5 hours per week (Running can be replaced with cross-country skiing, but must then be logged as running)
  • All participants who complete all three challenges every week for 3 weeks will earn the exclusive black embroidered O3 Julecyber cap
  • All sessions MUST be logged on Strava, and you can see the status here
  • Remember to have fun and enjoy your vacation while staying active!
  • Membership fee 2025
The membership fee for 2025 is NOK 700 and will be sent out before Christmas with a deadline just after the New Year. This must be paid by the deadline to avoid extra work with reminders for the board.
If you don't want to be a member for 2025: not paying the membership fee does not automatically cancel your membership. You must go in and make an active choice on the pages in my sport. If you experience problems with this, please notify the board of your withdrawal.

    Swimming - pool
We have swimming times at Økern and had trial lessons at Tøyenbadet this fall.
All information about swimming in the future can be found in Spond.

We are aiming for two sessions a week where we have a coach on the edge also for spring 2025. In most sessions, we share times with other clubs. When we share with OI, be aware that they have their own coach and then we do not interfere in their lanes. When we share with Sk Rye or other clubs, we usually run common lanes.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: You must cancel your swim session well in advance if you cannot attend, and remember to confirm as soon as possible if you are joining via the waiting list. It will quickly become a bad atmosphere if 8 out of 20 cancel 30 minutes before the session starts, and thus those on the waiting list will not have time to pack their bags and come. Many of us want to swim, and we can accommodate everyone if we are flexible.
Read the pool rules (available on our Facebook pages and in spond).

If the lanes are full, we have to swim the same program to get a flow in the lanes. Feel free to come up with suggestions for programs. Nice that you have a profile picture in Spond so we can see who you are, and preferably an O3 swimming cap.

    Lifesaving courses
We really appreciate that so many people have participated in our lifesaving courses. At club swims, we must have a lifeguard present. If you want us to continue to have good swimming times, then contribute by participating in lifesaving courses / refresher courses. If you have taken lifesaving courses elsewhere than under the auspices of the club, please let us know so that we can get you into the overview of active lifeguards. The next opportunity for lifesaving courses and refresher courses will be in January/February 2025. More details about the date and registration will come in the spond.

    Running
We have interval training at Bislett on Mondays at 16:15. We have to run the sessions before 17:00, as only athletes with a track and field license can train between 17:00-19:30. The last session before Christmas is Monday, December 16, and we aim to start up again in the new year.

    Cycling
We start the new year with a few more spinning sessions at Myrens until the outdoor season starts. It will be 45 min spinning interval training:

  • Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 10 am
  • Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10 am
  • Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10 am
  • Sign up in Spond!

In the new year, we will also have caps, sweatbands, lightweight down vests and t-shirts nicely decorated with our beautiful club logo.

    Spring gathering
We will not have a trip to Sæby this year due to low attendance, but will conduct a spring gathering in Oslo one day in March / April. We will return on the date for this.
Also reminds you that the Triathlon Federation has a trip at the end of March to Gran Canaria for which there are still places available and possible to sign up for. Please contact May-Lene if you have any questions about this trip.

    Do you want to contribute?
The club is based on volunteering. We will also reward those who contribute extra at the next annual meeting. If you want to take the initiative for an event, you can either invite directly on the FB page, or contact us on the board for guidance/help. In the Facebook group, all members can take the initiative for training. Create an event and see if anyone wants to join. We also need members who want to contribute to board work for 2025.

You can also follow us on Strava and tag us on Instagram.
Follow the information in the Facebook group and in Spond.
By the way, we also remind you about the clean practitioner course that we encourage everyone to take.
Questions, good ideas or something you're thinking about? Do not hesitate to contact us.

    Sincerely, the Board of O3
