Training triathlons are based on voluntary efforts from all of us members of the club, where everyone who participates in the competitions is also expected to contribute with timekeeping and bike passes during the season. If you're having a recovery day, it's perfect to combine with a social and contributing evening for other keen exercisers.

Timekeeping is not difficult and it's not a crisis if it gets a little messy, which can happen when there are many participants. Prioritize the times at the finish line, that's most important. Just as important as the timekeeping itself is that someone is in the area looking after our values while others are out on the course.

Here's a list of what you need to do and remember when you're a timekeeper.

  1. Comment on the event on Facebook that you can be a timekeeper, or send an email to kontakt@oslofjord.no
  2. Bring a watch/mobile phone, pen and paper. You can use this template for the form, but just bring some blank sheets if that's what you have.
  3. Arrive no later than 10 minutes before the start (18:20) and line up with the trash cans (Bogstad) / Shift zone (Hverven) and ask people to sign the list.
  4. At the start, you go down to the beach and start the participants and the clock 🙂
    1. You're not responsible for teaching people the course, everyone must have checked it themselves beforehand.
  5. Go back to the bins/change zone where you stand until everyone has finished
  6. When the athletes finish their swim and pass you on their way to change, take note of the time of those who give their number when passing.
  7. Check that everyone gets out of the water (all bikes away from the changing zone)
  8. When the athletes come in from cycling and are heading out for a run, note the time of those who give their number when passing.
  9. Make a note of the time of those who reach the finish line.
  10. Take a picture of the result list and post on the joint training group, also feel free to take pictures along the way and post together with the results.
  11. You're done and can go home with a clear conscience that today you have made an effort for the club, the health of others and contributed to this fine training can take place 🙂
